Queen Mary 2 to Enter Dry Dock in May

Cunard’s Queen Mary 2 will enter dry dock for significant renovation from May 27 to 21 June 2016 in Blohm & Voss Shipyard in Hamburg, Germany. This magnificent ship will add: 30 more Britannia Club Balcony cabins, 15 new single cabins, 5 inside cabins and 10 accommodations for pets. There will be incorporated other enhancements such as reconstruction of barbecue restaurant, the Kings Court restaurant as well as the Queens and Princess Grill suites remodeling.

Cunard Line is responding to the requests and suggestions of its guests. In 2014 and 2015. Thousands of passengers were asked about their wishes and proposals. This ideas will be included in the 25-day dry dock.

A total of 15 new cabins for single travelers will be installed, nine of them replaced on deck 2, a part of the casino. They will be 16.5 square meters. Six cabins will be added on Deck 3L, at the current plase of  the image gallery. Each will be 16 square meters in size and have two windows. In addition. Thirty Britannia Club balcony cabins and five inside cabins in the front section of Deck 13 will be added. Four-legged guests will get additional space on Queen Mary 2, with five cages for small animals and five for larger dogs. 

The two acclaimed restaurants will be remodeled with additional tables for two, more space between the tables and mobile tables. Decor and furnishings will be changed and replaced to more elegant dining rooms to offer, and fit well with the revised menus and the excellent White Star Service. 

Kings Court Restaurant will be modified and the arrangement of the tables and seating will be completely restructured, with major upgrades. 

The honor for implementing the new interior design was given to London firm SMC Design, which specializes on interior design of luxury cruise ships and has already worked on different Cunard Queens, like the Queen Elizabeth, Queen Victoria, and Queen Elizabeth 2.
