MSC Cruises officially received its new flagship named MSC Seaview. The delivery ceremony of this magnificent cruise ship was held in the presence of Gianluigi Aponte, the shipowner, founder and CEO of MSC Group.

During the delivery ceremony, which pays tribute to an important maritime tradition, Roberto Olivari, director of Fincantieri shipyards, handed to Pier Paolo Scala, Captain of MSC Seaview, a canister that contained the first water that touched the hull when the ship floated last year.

This cruise ship with its iconic design and wide public spaces will be an important element for guests who want to make the most of the sun and the outdoors while enjoying the sea during their cruise experience. It will sail in the Mediterranean for its inaugural season and then in South America for the summer season, thus strengthening the company's position in two markets in which MSC Cruises is the main cruise brand.

Pierfrancesco Vago, Chairman of MSC Cruises, said: "MSC Seaview will bring to the market another new and innovative distinctive product of MSC Cruises, as it has cutting-edge design and the latest marine and environmental technology. It is an example of our commitment to bring the best and most developed tonnage to the market, and our ambition to establish a new industry standard every time. The Seaside class is another new prototype that we present, the fifth to date since we entered the cruise industry only 15 years ago. In addition, I am proud to say that, along with its twin ship the MSC Seaside, it is the largest ship ever built in Italy. "

MSC Seaview is the second ship of the Seaside class and, like its twin ship MSC Seaside, is overcoming the limits of the construction and design of pioneer ships. The Seaview will be one of the most innovative vessels at sea, also when it comes to the environmental technology. In fact, not only will it meet the highest international standards, but it will also receive from the international classification society RINA, in addition to the main Class notes, its accreditation as "Green Star 3 Design" in recognition of the attention it receives. He lent to these aspects during the design and construction of the ship.

RINA's Green Star 3 - the latest and most complete edition of the RINA Green STAR additional class notes - specifically recognizes that the MSC Seaview achieves the highest levels of ecological compatibility thanks to the relevance of the various innovative measures implemented that help reduce the environmental impact during operations. These include, among others, the exhaust gas cleaning system, the advanced treatment of wastewater, the systems for the prevention of the discharge of hydrocarbons from the machinery spaces, the ballast water treatment system and the wastewater treatment plan. Environmental management of the ship.

The ship will depart from the shipyard, making a three days voyage, arriving in the home port of Genoa, Italy, on June 7. The new addition to the MSC Cruises fleet will be officially inaugurated in a brilliant ceremony on June 9 and will begin its inaugural cruise on June 10.
