Indian Crewmember Medevacked from Norwegian Jade

A crew member from the cruise ship Norwegian Jade was medevacked on November 9, while the vessel was 22 nautical miles off the coast of Pylos, Greece. The Hellenic Coast Guard watchstanders at the port of Pyols received a request from the captain of the ship for emergency medical evacuation of a 31-year-old Indian crewmember. Watchstanders consulted the Coast Guard's Unified Coordination Center for Search and Rescue and deployed a rescue boat with medical personnel. The patient was transferred on the boat and then taken by ambulance to Kalamata Hospital.

Norwegian Jade departed on November 7, from Civitavecchia, Italy on a 22-day repositioning cruise with a final stop in Dubai. The vessel was en route to Argostoli (Kefallinia), Greece when the medical evacuation was requested. No further details of the crew member's medical condition, his name or position onboard were released.
