Submitted by kgnadmin on

Carnival Cruise Line guests sailing on the return voyage of Carnival Splendor in October 2022 get an extra day free. The cruise, originally scheduled to depart from Sydney, Australia on October 2nd, will now re-commence on October 1st.

Cara Glamore, president of Carnival Cruise Line Australia, said in a press release: “The extension of this cruise is a thank you to our most dedicated guests – those who took the opportunity to welcome Carnival Splendor on our first passenger cruise. Two years! We can't wait to celebrate with them on board and welcome the return of entertainment to Australian waters."

Guests who are unable to embark on an extra day cruise are offered a future cruise credit or refund to their original payment method.

In 2019, Carnival Splendor repositioned from Long Beach to sail year-round from below, adding a 66 percent capacity increase for the cruise line.

Carnival Splendor has undergone a significant bow-to-stern upgrade in Singapore that has added features to cater to Australian guests, including a variety of new dining experiences tailored to local tastes and a brand new water park.

Both Carnival Spirit and Splendor spend the summer sailing from Seattle, Washington to Southeast Alaska. The ships were moved to the North West after Australia delayed reopening the cruise industry, and the ships were based in Dubai. Australia eventually reopened to international cruise ships on April 18

Late last week, Carnival Cruise Line eased vaccination and testing mandates starting September 6, including in Australia, although some restrictions may apply depending on the itinerary. Carnival has the details listed on their Have Fun and Stay Safe page on their website.

Before the shutdown of the cruise industry, almost a million guests sailed for Carnival in Australia.
