Disney Cruise Line's next ship to be named Disney Treasure

Submitted by kgnadmin on

Just a couple of months following the debut of Disney Cruise Line's latest cruise ship Disney Wish, Disney has officially revealed the name of its sixth vessel. The next Triton-class ship, Disney Treasure, will join the DCL fleet in 2024 and be filled with Walt Disney’s life-long love for exploration.

The name of the next ship was unveiled by Josh D'Amaro, President of Disney Parks at D23 Expo 2022 at the "Boundless Futures: Disney Parks, Experiences and Products" presentation in Anaheim, California.

"It's terrific to be together in person and connect with our fans again at D23 Expo. I love sharing in the excitement with them for what we have ahead of us," said Josh D'Amaro. "As the world's greatest storytellers, I'm thrilled to share the new and innovative ways we are bringing next-generation Disney magic to life across Disney parks and experiences."

The Disney Treasure will be similar in size to the Disney Wish and is scheduled for delivery in 2024. Meier Werft previously assigned s.718 as hull number. The theme of Disney Treasures is "adventure" just as "enchantment" was the theme for Disney's Wish.

The Great Hall of Disney Treasures will have an Aladdin theme with Jasmine and Aladdin featured on the Magic Carpet as a statue at the bottom of the staircase. The Great Hall is inspired by the grandeur and mystery of the Gilded Palace, drawing on real-world influences from Asia and Africa and paying homage to the distant land of Agrabah. In the center, a signature statue will represent Aladdin, Jasmine and their Magic Carpet.

Additionally, Coco, Moana, and the Hitchhiking Ghosts are featured in the following video, along with a look at the Great Hall.

During D23 Expo 2017, a 7th ship was announced with Bob Capek stating that two ships "wouldn't be enough for all the new exciting experiences we've been dreaming of going on family cruise vacations." While technically this was the 7th ship announced, the ship will actually be the sixth to join the fleet.
