Royal Caribbean International announced that 6,500 shipboard employees have been promoted to higher job positions this year alone, which represents 18,7% of the 34.831 crew members currently working on board the 26 vessels in operation. The company said in the "ROYAL Way crew Newsletter" that additional 1500 crew will be promoted by the end of 2022. The highest number of promotions are in the dining room and housekeeping departments with 1,400 crew members promoted to Waiters, 1,300 to Assistant Waiters, and 650 crew members to Stateroom Attendants.

“We are happy to share that we have promoted over 6,500 crew members through our career pipeline this year. This is tremendous compared to the 4,500 promotions that took place each year in 2018 and 2019. Around 75% of these promotions happened less than six months after being added to the career pipeline.” Royal Caribbean said.

Additional 2,600 candidates are awaiting their opportunity for promotion in their careers. Royal Caribbean anticipates that the number of promotions by the end of the year will exceed 8,000. The company is encouraging all crew members to talk to their supervisor and manager if they have questions about the next steps in their career.
