Royal Caribbean Introduces Icon of the Seas Surfside Family Neighborhood

Submitted by kgnadmin on

The world's largest cruise ship Icon of the Seas, is currently being built at the Meier shipyard in Turku, Finland. Royal Caribbean International's next-generation ship will feature a number of innovations. Neighborhood Surfside is designed for young families with children.

The cruise line has set itself the goal of offering the best family vacation in the world on board the Icon of the Sea. Many cabins and suites are also specially designed for families with two or more children.

In the latest episode of the Icon of the Sea construction video series, images of the shell construction in Turku and animations of the family area can already be seen. It will mostly be located on deck 7 aft.

There will be, among other things, a merry-go-round, numerous slides and a series of family-friendly bars and restaurants. The highlight would have to be Splashaway Bay with the Waters Edge children's pool at the stern of the Icon of the Sea.

At the end of the year, the icon of the sea should be handed over from the Meier Shipyard in Turku to the shipping company Royal Caribbean. The cruise ship will then operate from Miami on week-long cruises to the Western and Eastern Caribbean beginning in January 2024.

With a length of 365 meters, a beam of 65 meters and 20 decks, the Icon of the Sea will be slightly larger than the Oasis class ships. On board, 2,805 cabins and suites will offer accommodation for 7,600 guests.
