The cruise ship Costa Magica has been sold to the Greek ferry operator and the largest cruise ship owner in the country, Seajets. According to Greek media reports, the cruise ship was renamed to Mykonos Magic and is now flying the flag of Bermuda.

The vessel tracking site Fleetmon has already updated the registry of the former Costa Magica, and the new name, Mykonos Magic is listed on Wikipedia.

The last remaining Costa Cruises crew members already disembarked the ship yesterday, said a team member in a social media post.

Built in 2004 with the capacity to accommodate up to 2,720 guests, Costa Magica is the newest and biggest cruise ship acquired by Marios Iliopoulos-led Seajets. The Destiny-class ship has been out of service since the industry-wide shutdown in 2020.

Seajets is by far the leader in Greek coastal shipping, with the largest fleet of cruise ships in Greece consolidating its position as a major player in the Mediterranean and the global cruise market.

During the pandemic, Seajets was the biggest buyer of secondhand cruise ships sold by Carnival Corporation Royal Caribbean and the former Cruise & Maritime Voyages. 

With the acquisition of Costa Magica, Seajets has purchased 7 cruise ships in less than three years including CMV Columbus and Magellan (later sold for scrap); Holland America Line’s Maasdam (sold to a French start-up company); as well as the former Veendam, P&O Oceania, Pacific Area and Majesty of the Seas (currently in lay up in Greece).
