CSSC Carnival Cruise Shipping Reveals Name and Features for First Chinese-Built Cruise Ship

Carnival Corporation's Chinese joint venture, CSSC Carnival Cruise Shipping, has revealed the name of its highly anticipated Chinese-built cruise ship: "Adora Magic City." This announcement marks an exciting milestone in the cruise industry, as the vessel will be the world's first to incorporate advanced wireless communication technology, offering passengers a network experience comparable to being on land. 

The significance of the Adora Magic City extends beyond its name and technology. By embracing the 5G market within the cruise industry, CSSC Carnival Cruise Shipping aims to establish a new benchmark for digital communication in marine travel. Chen Ranfeng, the managing director of CSSC Carnival Cruise Shipping, expressed the joint venture's ambition, stating, "By seizing a first-mover advantage in the cruise industry's 5G market, we hope to set a new standard for digital communication in the marine travel sector."

The vessel was designed and built between CCTD and Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co. Ltd., boasting impressive specifications. With a length of 323.6 meters and a substantial gross tonnage of 135,500, Adora Magic City can accommodate up to 5,246 passengers.

The Adora Magic City, operated by Adora, Carnival's China-market brand, will sail from Shanghai, signaling the resumption of international cruising from China. As lockdown restrictions ease and travel resumes, a phased pilot program will commence in June. This program will pave the way for international cruise operations, allowing passengers to embark on cruises once again.

The unveiling of the Adora Magic City and the upcoming resumption of international cruising from Shanghai demonstrate the industry's resilience and determination to navigate through challenging times.
