Norovirus Reported on Seven Seas Voyager

The cruise ship Seven Seas Voyager, operated by Regent Seven Seas Cruises, reported a small number of illness cases during its current 14-day round-trip from Cape Town, South Africa.

The ship arrived in Cape Town on Monday, with a small number of guests feeling unwell, local media reported. The symptoms were consistent with stomach flu, commonly linked to norovirus, a highly contagious virus that causes gastrointestinal illness and can spread easily in close settings like cruise ships.

Regent confirmed that onboard health procedures were put into action as soon as the situation was identified. The company said guest and crew health remains its top priority and explained that only a small percentage of passengers were affected.

According to the cruise line, the ship’s sanitation officer activated the CDC-approved response protocols. Guests who reported symptoms were treated onboard, and extra cleaning and sanitizing steps were carried out across the vessel.

The cruise line did not release an exact number of affected guests and indicated that the situation was being managed without any major disruption to operations. Gastrointestinal illnesses like norovirus are closely monitored in the cruise industry, and standard response procedures typically include treatment, isolation where necessary, and intensified sanitation.

Regent Seven Seas Cruises says the matter is under control, with all appropriate precautions taken as Seven Seas Voyager prepares to continue its schedule.
