Passenger Removed from Anthem of the Seas After Onboard Altercation

A 44-year-old cruise passenger was booted off Anthem of the Seas in Port Chalmers after a late-night altercation onboard. According to Otago Daily, around 9:30 p.m. the previous evening the man reportedly assaulted another male passenger, who sustained a cut to his nose and was treated in the ship’s medical facility.

When the vessel berthed at 6 a.m., officers attended and interviewed parties involved. The Australian guest was formally warned for assault and excluded from the ship—meaning his family remained onboard for the remainder of the voyage while he made his own travel arrangements back to Australia. Shipboard security protocols and the cruise line’s right to disembark disruptive passengers were exercised in this case.

Earlier this month, another removal took place on the Royal Caribbean ship Harmony of the Seas. On a Western Caribbean sailing out of Galveston when two livestreamers engaged in a brawl on the open deck, after escalating an online dispute into a face-to-face altercation.

Both were detained by onboard security and disembarked at Roatán, arranging their own return flights after being removed from the ship. The incident was part of a larger “streamer-cruise” environment which had already attracted prior guest-security incidents.
