Royal Caribbean cruise ship faces maximum fine after all-night party in Ibiza

Royal Caribbean’s Brilliance of the Seas faces a maximum fine for playing loud music in Ibiza all thru the night until early morning hours, reports Daily Mail. The cruise ship which was docked overnight at Marina Botafoch was chartered by Ship Somnia Electronic music festival. As the name suggests, not a lot of sleep was planned for this cruise so the passengers were up partying all night with DJ sets all over the ship. Local sources say that noise from the ship, which departed from Barcelona, lasted until 8.30am. Many neighbors in the Botafoch area, could not sleep due to the loud music of the outdoor disco confirmed the Port Authority of the Balearic Islands.

Brilliance of the Seas had two days stopover on the island and during the night held a mega party on open deck. After receiving several calls from neighbors complaining about the noise, port authorities had warned the ship to turn the music down, but the organizers did not pay attention. The Port Police and the Civil Guard notified the people in charge managing the cruise, to lower the music, but the party continued.

Spanish Authorities have already opened an investigation for disobedience to the orders of the authorities, saying that they will ask for maximum fine allowed by law in this case. They have also announced that they will prepare a communiqué that cruise operators have to respect the municipal noise regulations, especially the one that refers to noise between 00.00 and 08.00 hours.
