A search operation is underway for a missing woman who went overboard from the Royal Caribbean cruise ship Explorer of the Seas. The incident happened around 11 p.m. on the first day of The 80s Cruise, approximately 80 miles east of Miami.
The ship’s captain made an announcement via the PA system, informing passengers of the situation, and crew members immediately launched a speedboat to search for the missing individual. According to passengers currently onboard, two other nearby ships have joined the search effort.
“We can see spotlights in the water on multiple ships. We just had a sitewide announcement of a MOB (man overboard), and the ship is turning around and starting an active search,” one passenger reported.
Another passenger shared their firsthand account: “Person overboard on Explorer of the Seas, during The 80s Cruise. Just saw a great show by Squeeze, then it was announced that a person is overboard. The ship has stopped and is actively searching. Other nearby ships are assisting.”
According to witnesses, the missing woman allegedly jumped from Deck 8 following a heated argument with her partner. The ship’s crew immediately responded by deploying search boats into the water.
The Explorer of the Seas is currently on a seven-day round-trip The 80s Cruise, which departed from Miami on March 2, with its next scheduled stop in Nassau, Bahamas.
As the search continues, our thoughts and prayers go out to the missing woman and her loved ones.
