A passenger aboard the cruise ship AIDAperla was urgently evacuated on Tuesday morning after suffering a heart attack while the vessel was sailing near Bonaire.
According to information from the Coast Guard, the Maritime Operations Center (MOC) received an emergency report from the passenger ship requesting immediate medical assistance. The patient was identified as a 37-year-old man from Germany who required urgent treatment.
After receiving the alert, MOC staff immediately contacted a CITRO doctor to assess the situation in coordination with the ship’s medical team. Following the evaluation, the doctor advised that the passenger needed to be evacuated without delay and transported to a hospital for specialized care.
Based on the medical recommendation, the Coast Guard deployed a rescue helicopter to the scene. The patient was safely transferred from the ship and flown to shore, where ambulance personnel were already standing by.
He was then taken to a medical facility for further treatment. Authorities have not released additional details regarding his current condition.
At the time of the incident, AIDAperla, was sailing on a 14-day Caribbean cruise departing from Barbados.
