MSC Grandiosa Passenger Accident Leads to Finger Amputation

Submitted by kgnadmin on

A 61-year-old Dutch passenger chose to spend a relaxing day by the pool rather than exploring the city or visiting Florence or Pisa. However, his peaceful day on the cruise ship MSC Grandiosa, docked in Livorno on July 21st took a dramatic turn.

While lounging by the pool, an unexpected accident with a sun lounger resulted in part of his finger being amputated. The ship's doctor quickly intervened, preserving the segment that was detached and controlling the bleeding. Around noon, a call to emergency services prompted the arrival of ambulances from the Misericordia of Antignano.

The tourist, already attended to by the ship’s medical staff, was transported to a hospital in Livorno in stable condition.
