1,5 Pound Baby Born Early on Royal Caribbean Cruise Ship

A miracle happened onboard Royal Caribbean cruise ship Independence of the Seas when a baby was born three months early weighing only 1,5 pound. Emily and Chase Morgan with their 3-year-old daughter went on a seven-day Caribbean cruise. Emily due date wasn't until December so they were hoping to have relaxing holyday and to celebrate their daughter's birthday.  However on the second day of the cruise Emily went into early labor. At that time the cruise ship was between Florida and Puerto Rico. The ship was due to arrive in Puerto Rico in 14 hours however labor pains began and the couple called the ships doctor

"At 1:20 a.m. the doctor came over, looked at me and said, 'keep your legs closed, don't push because we are not porting for another 14 hours." 

After 30 minutes Emily give birth to a baby boy struggling for his life

"About 45 minutes after I had delivered, the two doctors came back in and said the baby was still alive, however, they didn't expect him to live very long."

The couple made improvised incubator with towels to keep the baby warm. Ships captain was informed about this emergency situation and sped the cruise ship towards San Juan, Puerto Rico arriveng two hours early. When the ship docked in the port on the baby body black spots were starting to appear indicating a loss of circulation. The baby is in stable condition with a fully developed pair of lungs, and is expected to continue hospital treatment.
