Appointed NCL Breakaway Captains and Hotel Director

Norwegian Cruise Line introduced the Hotel Director, responsible for all guest areas onboard NCL Breakaway , including the 28 choices for dining, including three Broadway shows, extensive nightlife, recreation and for families and cabins ranging from Studios to luxury suites of The Haven.

After the inaugural transatlantic voyage and a series of interesting events of inauguration, the Norwegian Breakaway, the largest cruise ship ever built in Germany, will embark on seven-night itineraries from New York to Bermuda under the command of Captain Evans Hoyt, with over 30 years of experience at sea. Since 2005 the service of Norwegian Cruise Line and previously captain on the Pride of America, Hoyt is responsible for all aspects of the ship, passengers and crew. He also served three other ships in the fleet, including the Norwegian Spirit. Captain Hoyt graduated from the Academy of American Merchant Marine in New York in 1982. Born in Morocco, the son of an American diplomat, he lived in different countries. 

When Captain Hoyt will be on holiday, it will be up to the Captain Hakan Svedung to take the helm of the Norwegian Breakaway. He has experience of 35 years and is currently the commander of the Norwegian Epic. Captain Svedung, who lives in Sweden, is part of the Norwegian team since 2006 and had previously worked for Star Cruises, one of the shareholders of Norwegian, for 12 years. Both captains can not wait to start this new and challenging adventure.

Norwegian also announced that Norwegian Breakaway Hotel director will be Denis Prguda. Prguda began his career in 1997 aboard the Norwegian Leeward and since then has held numerous positions on various ships in the fleet. He was promoted to Hotel Director in 2008 and, on this position, he directed the staff of Norwegian Pearl, Norwegian Jade and Norwegian Epic. When he's not on board a ship, Prguda spends his free time with his family - a wife and two daughters - in Dubrovnik, Croatia.

"These officers have a proven track record in our operational team and have all the dedication and passion that will make the presentation of the Norwegian Breakaway New York launch."
