British woman missing after falling overboard P&O Aurora

British woman went overboard yesterday morning from P&O Aurora, while the ship was sailing in the Mediterranean sea.
As the ship set sail from the Portuguese port city of Oporto the woman was reported missing and crew started immediate search of the area but without success.
At 8.10am P&O Aurora Captain made an announcement for search of the missing passenger  and asked everyone to help. P&O spokesperson said that the family of the missing person have been contacted and UK Foreign Office is working with local authorities.
"We can confirm a missing female presumed overboard from Aurora sailing from Oporto to Barcelona. The ship turned round to search for her and all relevant authorities have been advised. Aurora is on a 14-night Western Mediterranean cruise which left Southampton on Wednesday September 26. Our care team is supporting the family and offering assistance." P&O Cruises spokesperson said.
Coast guard is conducting search operation for the missing woman with boats and aircrafts, also other vessels passing by are diverted to help the search.

Rescue teams searching for a 72 year old British woman who fell overboard from P&O have found the body at 4;30.p.m. The body was spoted by the Coast Guard Helicopter. In the serch for the woman 18 vessels responded to the call for assistance.

A P&O Cruises statement said: "Our care team is supporting the family and offering assistance."

Passengers and crew were informed thru the PA system by P&O Aurora captain Ian Hutley of the discovery of the body.
