In a heartwarming gesture, Carnival Cruise Line has played a pivotal role in renovating a learning center at St. Ann's Bay Regional Hospital in Jamaica. As part of their Labor Day Volunteer Project, approximately 20 Carnival Horizon crew members dedicated their time to cleaning up, painting, and repairing the Learning Centre. Additionally, Carnival Cruise Line generously donated essential items to enhance the facility. In a heartening display of compassion, a group of crew members from the ship also took the time to read to children in the Pediatric Ward.
Carnival Cruise Line's President, Christine Duffy, expressed her pride in the company's longstanding relationship with Jamaica, stating, "We are proud to have brought visitors to Jamaica for over 50 years, and we are committed to the community's health and well-being." By improving the St. Ann's Learning Centre, Carnival hopes to make a lasting positive impact on the lives of the children it serves.
The Learning Centre plays a vital role in educating young patients receiving treatment in the pediatric ward, offering them opportunities to read and engage in educational activities even when they are away from school. American Friends of Jamaica, Carnival's foundation partner for charitable initiatives in Jamaica, collaborated with the cruise line on this noteworthy project. Chukka Caribbean Adventures also provided valuable assistance alongside their donation of supplies.
Dennis Morgan, CEO of St. Ann's Bay Regional Hospital, expressed his gratitude, acknowledging that Carnival's participation was essential for the success of the Labor Day Volunteer Project. With the newly renovated Learning Centre, the hospital can continue providing critical educational and psychological support to its young patients during their recovery.
Wendy Hart, President of American Friends of Jamaica, highlighted the collective impact of businesses working together to uplift communities. She commended Carnival and Chukka for their dedication, noting that their contributions to the Labor Day Volunteer Project have significantly improved the lives of Jamaicans.
With their commitment to community welfare, Carnival Cruise Line and its team members have proven that spreading joy and making a difference go hand in hand. Their collaboration with St. Ann's Bay Regional Hospital and various partners has left a lasting impact on the lives of the children in Jamaica, reminding us all of the power of compassion and collaboration.
