CCL Andrew Baldwin: Ports and tour operators need to know the emergency plans

Cruise companies, tour operators and port authorities should be coordinated in a emergency situations, said Andrew Baldwin, Director of Communications for Carnival Cruises.

Andrew Baldwin who was participating on the International Cruise Summit which took place in Madrid, has stressed the need to work together on contingency plans in all actors involved in the management of a cruise industry.

Baldwin said, "a cruise ship can carry more than 5,000 passengers. If there is an emergency and have to land all, the port authority has to be prepared. Needed lodging, transportation, and communications office for those affected. The port has to assist in land and watch for tour operator customers to solve the problems. So it is important that we are all organized and familiar with emergency plans."
