Costa Luminosa Scores Perfect 100 Points on USPH Inspection

Costa Luminosa, whose homeport during this winter season is Miami, passed an USPH inspection conducted by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The cruise ship owned by Costa Cruises achieved the highest score (100 of 100) during the control conducted in Miami.

CDC inspections are part of the Vessel Sanitation Program (VSP), which was introduced in the early 1970s and in which all ships calling at US ports involved. It is unannounced inspections conducted by officers of the Public Health Service twice each year. The score, on a scale from 1 to 100, is assigned according to a list of criteria that covers 48 areas of assessment and include both hygiene and food processing (from storage to preparation), water, staff on board and the ship throughout its whole.

This is the 12th time the Costa Cruises fleet has received the highest rating from the CDC inspectors. The first vessel to obtain the perfect 100 was the Costa Atlantica in 2001, 2005, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012; while the Costa Mediterranea got the highest score in 2004, 2005 and 2006; the Costa Deliziosa obtained the "perfect score" in an inspection which took place on February 2, 2012 in Honolulu, one of the scales included in your cruise round the world 100 days. The Costa Luminosa's also won in December 2013.
