Costa Cruises celebrates today at the port of Barcelona the naming ceremony of Costa Toscana, the latest flagship of the Italian cruise line. Godmother of the ship is Chanel Terrero Martínez, singer, actress and dancer who rose to success at the latest edition of the Eurovision Song Contest.
"We are very excited to celebrate the baptism of our Costa Toscana in Barcelona, a city to which we are particularly attached and where we have been at home since the beginning of our history", comments Mario Zanetti, general manager of Costa Cruises. "For this occasion - he continues - we have organized an event to celebrate the start of a summer that marks the carefree resumption of travel and holidays, and which represents the excellence of Costa's offer in all its aspects, from haute cuisine, high-quality entertainment, unique experiences on land”.
During the summer, the Tuscan Coast will offer a one-week itinerary that will stop in the Western Mediterranean, with two stops in Spain: Savona, Civitavecchia / Rome, Naples, Ibiza, Valencia, and Marseille. During the autumn season, Palma de Mallorca will take over from Ibiza.
Costa Toscana marks the restart of the Costa fleet, which this summer will operate with a fleet of 10 ships back in service. According to research commissioned by Costa Cruises to Human Highway, about 4 million Italians have declared that they will go on a cruise in the next twelve months, a figure that rises to almost 14 million including some of the main countries of continental Europe (Italy, Spain, France, Germany, Switzerland and Austria).
