Crew member fired for reportedly filming women from toilet stall

A cruise ship crew member has been fired for allegedly filming a woman from a restroom cubicle. The incident occurred on the MSC Meraviglia, where a passenger named Saja reported that a man had locked himself in a public toilet stall and appeared to be recording her with a camera. Saja shared a video of the incident on TikTok. In the video, several women can be seen confronting the man wearing an MSC employee uniform. One of the passengers demanded that security be called, and the man was subsequently terminated.

“Someone is hiding under there filming me,” she is heard telling a housekeeper in the video.

“A man?” the housekeeper asks.

“In there, yeah, it’s a man,” Saja is heard saying.

The housekeeper knocked on the door several times and called out "housekeeping" but received no response. After attempting to look under the door, a female passenger intervened and began knocking loudly.

“Okay, why don’t we do this?” she says as she bangs on the door.

A man wearing an MSC Cruises uniform opens the door and can be heard saying: “I was wrong.”

MSC Cruises spokesperson confirmed that the company is aware of the incident and that the crew member involved has been fired. Onboard security cooperated fully with the authorities during the investigation, and the company took immediate action to support the affected guests and terminate the employee's contract.

“The safety and comfort of our guests and crew is our top priority, and we have a zero-tolerance policy for any misconduct on board our ships,” MSC Cruises spokesperson said.

In the video, Saja further commented that she posted the video to raise awareness about the dangers facing women and children on vacation.

Please keep in mind that this issue IS NOT unique to MSC. I have not been compensated in any way, shape, or form or had contact with the cruise line. Nor am I interested. Just wanted to spread awareness.”

She emphasized that her intention was not to shame the cruise line for the actions of one employee but rather to encourage women always to be mindful of their surroundings.
