Delayed Departure for AIDAvista and Carnival Paradise in Tampa Bay due to fog

Passenger and cargo ships, including AIDAvista and Carnival Paradise, are on standby in Tampa Bay today due to dense sea fog. Port authorities will turn on the green light for departure when visibility rises for about 3 miles. Current visibility in Tampa Bay is about a third of mile.

According to Port Tampa Bay, Carnival Paradise was scheduled to arrive at Cruise Terminal 3 today at 8 a.m. this morning from a five-day cruise and depart at 4 p.m.

Carnival released a statement, saying that today’s cruise has been delayed until conditions improve. Passengers were notified of the current situation and asked to delay arrival until further notice.

Port Tampa Bay is not closed, however in certain areas Coast Guard has halted the traffic.

National Weather Service reported that the dense sea fog advisory was set to expire at 1 p.m. today.

AidaVista cruise ship operated by the German company Aida Cruises has been waiting in Terminal 3 since Wednesday for departure. Port Authorities say AidaVista would be able to depart the terminal before the Carnival Paradise.
