Disney Cruise Line Crew Volunteer to Help Brevard County Children

Submitted by kgnadmin on

Disney Cruise Line crew members recently demonstrated their dedication to giving back to the community by volunteering their time and efforts to support local students in Brevard County. While the Disney Wish was docked at Port Canaveral, crew members came together to provide meals and school supplies to help children in the area.

At The Children's Hunger Project, workers on the Disney Wish put their hearts into action by packing over 500 meals for children facing food insecurity. Cheryl Cominsky, the executive director of The Children's Hunger Project, highlighted the significance of their efforts, stating that "for some children in our area, their main source of nutrition is school. Our food packages close the gap for those kids on weekends and in the summer."

Disney Cruise Line crew members also visited the supply zone to support students and teachers in preparing for the upcoming school year. Their collective effort resulted in the collection of more than 75,000 school supplies, making a tangible impact on the learning experience of local students.

Captain Marco Nogara of the Disney Wish expressed immense pride in his team's dedication to serving the community during their free time. "Our crew members really believe in this and what we do. It's rewarding to be here together, giving back to the community we call home," said Captain Marco. The passion and commitment of the crew members are a testament to Disney Cruise Line's commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of those they touch.

Disney Cruise Line's support didn't end there. The company made significant donations to The Children's Hunger Project, a program focused on providing weekend and summer meals to children in need throughout the school year. This contribution will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on the lives of those who rely on the program for nourishment and proper nutrition.

Additionally, Disney Cruise Line contributed to the Brevard Schools Foundation to help support programs throughout the county, furthering their commitment to empowering local communities through education.

Cheryl Cominsky emphasized the importance of such support from organizations like Disney Cruise Line, as it plays a crucial role in ensuring that children in the community receive essential meals and nutrition. Childhood hunger can have long-lasting effects on a child's health and academic performance, leading to weaker immune systems and difficulties in learning and paying attention in class. The efforts of Disney Cruise Line crew members and the company's generous contributions are helping to address these challenges and create a brighter future for the children of Brevard County.
