Aida cruises suffers another setback in the completion of their new flagship AIDAprima. Currently under final construction stage in Mitsubishi shipyard in Nagasaki, Japan this 125,000 gt cruise ship caught fire on Monday

The fire started on deck 7, area near the ships Theater. Affected were supposedly only about 15 square meters. The extent to which the fire has caused greater damage, is currently unknown. First estimate is that the fire started by a technical defect in the electrical wiring.

Aida confirms the incident saying that the situation was under control at all times. Crew and shipyard workers were evacuated, and there is no injured personnel.

First AIDAprima cruise is scheduled for 30 April 2016 in Hamburg. The construction of the 300 meter long ship had setbacks, and originally needed to sets sail in March 2015, however Mitsubishi Heavy Industries couldn’t make the deadline. This last incident can be cause of one more setback which can be a reason for the cruise ship to make the crossing from Japan to Germany without guests on board.
