First look: Illustration of TUI Cruises' Next Generation Mega Ship

Submitted by kgnadmin on

The Italian company Navim Group, a leader in construction and supply of marine equipment, has released a graphical representation of what could be TUI Cruises' newest mega cruise ship Mein Schiff 8, set for delivery in 2024. While TUI Cruises has not yet released any information or renderings of the ship, we know that the vessel is under construction at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, where Navim Group is installing equipment on the vessel.

With a 161.000  gross tonnage Mein Schiff 8 will be much larger than the previous TUI Cruises ships, including the 111.500 gross tonnage Mein Schiff 7, constructed by Meyer Werft in Turku, Finland, which is also set to debut in 2024.

However, the ship's design remains similar to the current fleet, with a distinctive bow and overall shape. On the white hull it is written inTUItion, which may be a project name. The sketch also shows a new superstructure on the upper deck, with the funnel, moved toward the middle, potentially creating space for up to three pool decks.

It is unknown whether this sketch accurately depicts the final design of Mein Schiff 8, or its sister ship Mein Schiff 9, but it offers some interesting insights into what could be expected.

TUI Cruises is focusing on environmental and climate protection with the newbuilds. The ship will run on liquid gas and can also be operated on low-emission and climate-friendly bio and E-LNG - an important step towards climate-neutral cruising. In addition, it will be equipped with improved catalytic converters (nitrogen oxide reduction to Euro 6 standard) and a shore power connection.
