Former Aida Cruise Ship To Sail For China As Blue Dream Melody

Submitted by kgnadmin on

It's official, the former Aida cruise ship AIDAvita, will set sail to China where it will be rebranded and renamed Blue Dream Melody. Blue Dream Cruises has confirmed that they have completed the acquisition of the second vessel, which will set sail in spring 2024 for the Chinese company. An agreement has been reached with Beta Marine Ltd, which previously owned and managed the 42,289-ton vessel that was in lay-up in Tallinn, Estonia. The two parties have officially completed the ship’s delivery on January 12, 2024.

The ship will start its repositioning to China in early March, where it will enter the domestic shipyard for a complete makeover before beginning operations.

Blue Dream Cruises was established in 2016 by Fujian China Transport Investment Group Co., Ltd. Its purpose is to rely on Chinese culture, reflect national characteristics, strive to break traditions, and set new industry benchmarks. The Chinese cruise line purchased its first ship, Blue Dream Star (formerly Celestyal Odyssey), in 2020 and positioned it as a "National Cruise" brand promoting national culture and values. It became the first cruise ship to resume domestic sailings in China after the pandemic on May 26, 2023, and has since successfully operated 42 voyages, carrying more than 57,000 cruise passengers.

Blue Dream Song will be officially put into operation for Chinese domestic cruises with a new look and sailings from Shanghai, Qingdao, and Tianjin in the spring and summer of this year.
