Latvian Sailor Caught with Cocaine Worth $48 Million

Mr. Zegelis is facing 6 counts of charges for importing and possessing 165 kg cocain which was estimated to be worth 48 million dollars

While most people pack their basic necessities when traveling the blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean, some pack their guns and drugs in order to make an illegal profit from one continent to another. We do not hear the news of people packing in such manner most of the times, but it most certainly happens.

One such case was the discovery of the Latvian sailor who was sailing towards Eastern Europe with his yacht from South America. Mr. Zegelis was forced to dock the ship in St. George due to technical difficulties which he encountered with his yacht and there the local customs raided the boat. This event occurred August 1 of last year and the case against the Latvian sailor is being heard this year by the court.

Mr. Zegelis is facing 6 counts of charges for importing and possessing 165 kg cocain which was estimated to be worth 48 million dollars, importing and possessing a gun, as well as ammunition. During the questioning, Mr. Zegelis managed to incriminate himself for the same charges he is being prosecuted, but currently he is stating that he is not guilty on any of the accounts.
