Louis Cruises reduces the fleet

The Greek company based in Cypriot, Louis Group has sold a second cruise ship for demolition, reducing the fleet.

The Greek company based in Cypriot, Louis Group has sold a second cruise ship for demolition, reducing the fleet. After the "Sapphire", built in 1967 and sold in March for $ 3.3 million, now was turn to "Emerald", built in 1958 at a price of $ 5 million.

Louis Group took over the ship after Regency went bankrupt. The Regent Rainbow was renamed the "Emerald" and was chartered to the UK's Thomson Cruises. After her operating costs soared, Thomson ended their charter of the Emerald and she was returned to Louis Cruise Line.
This year Louis operates two ships leaving Greece. Two other units are rented to the tour operator Thomson.

Louis Cruises offers a fleet of midsize second-hand vessels that vary significantly in design, layout and quality. They generally offer port-intensive itineraries at reasonable rates, but without all the high-tech amenities of North American cruise ships.
