MedCruise Announces Crew Friendly Initiative

Submitted by kgnadmin on

The Association of Mediterranean Cruise Ports - MedCruise, has introduced a Crew-Friendly initiative to support crew members of cruise ships across 151 ports in 22 countries around the Mediterranean and its adjoining seas. The program's primary aim is to create a welcoming environment that caters to the unique needs of the crew.

“Until now, the industry has focused on the needs of cruise passengers and we believe that it is important also to focus on the crew. In this initiative, ship crews will be supported in our territories, creating a friendly environment adapted to their needs,” said Lorenzo Vera Franco, MedCruise director of destination development and VP.

To achieve this goal, MedCruise has initiated a special program for crew members, starting with a survey to evaluate the existing facilities and initiatives available for the crew in the ports. The survey aims to identify the services provided to the crew and the kind of support available, be it practical or emotional.

MedCruise intends to leverage the survey data to identify the existing facilities' strengths and weaknesses, which will help the association expand and improve the crew facilities. MedCruise has established a Working Group to analyze the data and propose action plans, opening up opportunities for the destinations and ports under the association's umbrella.
