MSC Sinfonia Enters Dry Dock for Stretching

During the next 10 weeks, MSC Sinfonia will undergo the same major renovation and extension  that MSC Armonia has passed in 17 November 2014.

The Italian shipbuilding company will split in half hull MSC Sinfonia, so that the two parts of the ship are slowly separated. On 20 and 21 January a central section will be inserted, previously built with 2.200GT and 24 meters, which will be available 193 new cabins. After this process, the interior of the ship will be refurbished and renovated, thus improving all the space and comfort level.

The Fincatieri had all previously prepared to begin the work that must be done not only on board, but also in the yard, even before the arrival of MSC Sinfonia, Monday (January 12). On January 9 the central section was already in the yard and was towed to the dry dock, where the ship will stay during your stay.

When the process is finished and tests completed, the largest and renovated MSC Sinfonia will leave the yard on 25 March and will sail to Genoa, where will its inaugural cruise bound for Ajaccio, Barcelona and Marseille.

The MSC Sinfonia will have available new areas dedicated exclusively to children, built in partnership with Chicco® and LEGO® and new Baby Club, Mini Club, Young Club and Teens Club. MSC Cruises also modified the culinary experiences on board: the buffet is open 20 hours a day, will be available new spaces meal, a new lounge area and the restaurant will be increased.

The MSC Aurea Spa will also be enriched with new areas for massages, and will be added a completely new water park in the deck 13, with exciting water fun facilities.

The remaining vessels will be submitted to the Renaissance program will follow the following chronological order:

- MSC Opera: 2 May to 4 July 2015

- MSC Lirica: 31 August to 2 November 2015

MSC Cruises currently carries about 40,000 passengers a day, but in 2022 will double its capacity to 80,000 - 3.4 million passengers a year - after completion of the Renaissance program and the delivery of the last seven ships on order.
