NCL Breakaway comes out of Meyer Werft shipyard

The cruise ship Norwegian Breakaway, largest built to date in Germany, on Tuesday left the indoor dock in Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, showing for the first time the original design of his helm by the artist Peter Max pop.

The ship left the dock 4000 capabilities roof construction in Papenburg number 2 at 7:00 AM, as the first ship that makes sense in your head. The normal so far in these spectacular outings was that large ships stern show first.

The Norwegian Breakaway has a length of 324 meters and a width of 39.7, qualifying among the biggest ships in the industry. After this operation, the ship enters the final phase of equipment, with final delivery scheduled for April 25. In early March the first crew members will board, which will start and get familiar with the ship.

Kevin Sheehan, president and CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line, said the new vessel represents an important achievement for his company and for Meyer Werft in terms of innovation and design.

For March 10 is scheduled trip down the River Ems to the North Sea, if  weather permitting, reported the shipyard.

The Breakaway will debut in Europe and then cross the Atlantic to arrive at its home port port of, New York on May 7. It will be the largest ship to sail from that port throughout the year.

Its inaugural summer season will begin on Sunday May 12, 2013 with seven-night cruises to Bermuda. Then, from October 2013 to April 2014, will make a series of cruises from New York to the Bahamas and Florida and two cruises to the southern Caribbean.

 

This is the 12th ship in the Norwegian fleet, which in January 2014 should get another ship with similar capacity, the Norwegian Getaway.
