NCL Breakaway tugged to pier after getting stuck in Hudson River

NCL Breakaway got stuck in the Hudson River off Manhattan on Sunday morning after problems with a side thruster

The captain notified the Coast Guard about the problems ship was facing on Sunday morning around 7:40, local time.

The ship was coming back from a week long cruise in the Caribbean and was supposed to dock at 07:30 CET. The Coast Guard sent a tug and the ship was towed to shore two hours later.

Spokesperson for Norwegian Cruise Line , Anne Marie Mathews , describing the whole thing as a small event. The ship was slightly delayed due to a strong current in the river . We thanked our guests for their patience and understanding, she told the newspaper.

Mathews also states that the ship is proceeding as planned to Bermuda clock 17 U.S. time today .

Norwegian Cruise Line was formerly called Norwegian Caribbean Line and was a Norwegian-owned but now headquartered in Miami, Florida, USA . The Norwegian Knut Kloster founded the company in 1966. The company is also known for the SS Norway , which in the 80s was the world 's largest cruise ship.
