San Francisco, Calif. – In 2013, four special anniversary trips will provide extraordinary
opportunities to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Olivia, the world’s premier provider of
lesbian cruise, resort and adventure vacations. Launching the milestone year in grand
style, 6,400 guests will celebrate with Olivia on two 2,100-person Holland America fullship charters to the Caribbean and two 1,100-person resort vacations at Club Med Punta
Cana. For each trip, Olivia has pulled out all the stops with dozens of entertainers,
surprise special guests, parties, excursions, activities, dances and shows – and, as a
signature part of its mission, the company always charters the entire ship and resort so
their guests can be out and free on vacation.
The 40th anniversary themed trips kick off Olivia’s exciting 2013 vacation schedule. The
celebration comes after an impressive four decades during which the company grew
from a groundbreaking independent women’s record label into the leading travel
company for lesbians.
“I am so proud of all that Olivia has accomplished in the past 40 years. In addition to
introducing women to incredible destinations, we have raised awareness for our
community and changed what it means to be a lesbian traveler,” says Olivia Founder
and President Judy Dlugacz. “These upcoming anniversary trips are all about
celebrating women – with women, and all we’ve experienced over these past four
decades.”
Olivia’s back-to-back Southern Caribbean cruises depart from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida,
on Jan. 27-Feb. 3, 2013 (sold out – wait list only) and Feb. 3-10, 2013. Then, in May,
Olivia welcomes guests on two consecutive seven-day anniversary resort vacations at
Club Med’s Punta Cana Resort in the beautiful Dominican Republic. The first trip, which
is almost sold out, takes place May 11-18, 2013; another follows from May 18-25, 2013.
Olivia added a second week of each vacation after initial spots filled up quickly, and all
four offer thrilling entertainment, activities and optional excursions.
Southern Caribbean Cruises
More than 20 artists and top-tier entertainers will be aboard Olivia’s 40th anniversary
cruises departing Jan. 27-Feb. 3, 2013 (sold out – wait list only), and Feb. 3-10, 2013.
Sports icon and social justice pioneer, Billie Jean King will join original Olivia recording
artists Meg Christian and Cris Williamson along with other popular musicians, speakers,
DJs and special guests. In addition to entertainment, Olivia guests will enjoy anniversary-themed parties, dance lessons, pool games and mixers for solo travelers,
plus optional excursions such as snorkeling, kayaking, off-roading and more.
The back-to-back weeks of sun and fun take place on Holland America’s stunning,
2,100-passenger Nieuw Amsterdam. From panoramic ocean views, to new spa-class
cabins, to more than $3 million of Dutch art and antiques on display, the vessel is one of
the most impressive to cruise the seas. Onboard amenities include specialty restaurants,
a wine tasting bar, a three-tiered show lounge, the Food & Wine Magazine culinary arts
center and the full-service Greenhouse Spa and Salon, as well as a pool, hot tub and the
largest gym in the Holland America line.
Olivia’s anniversary cruises depart from Ft. Lauderdale and will call on the private
Bahamian island Half Moon Cay, with its two-mile crescent beach, before spending a
day at sea. From there, the Nieuw Amsterdam heads to two gay-friendly islands that
appeal to guests for distinct reasons. A stop in Willemstad, Curacao, offers cultural
opportunities and optional heritage tours, aloe plantation visits and dolphin swims.
Outdoor adventure abounds in sun-kissed Oranjestad, Aruba, which boasts European
and Latin influences. The cruises wrap up with two more at-sea days that promise both
relaxation and action-packed enjoyment for guests.
