A passenger aboard an MSC Cruises cruise ship, which was hosting a corporate charter cruise for MAG Seguros, passed away on Thursday, January 9, after suffering a sudden illness. The ship MSC Orchestra set sail from Rio de Janeiro the previous evening for a celebration marking the 190th anniversary of MAG Seguros, a company specializing in Life Insurance and Pension Funds.
Despite efforts by the ship's medical team, the passenger, a member of the host company, could not be saved. The planned festivities were canceled, and the ship returned to port in Rio that afternoon. MAG Group expressed their deep sorrow and extended their support to the deceased's family and colleagues.
"It is with great sadness that the MAG Group confirms the death of one of its employees during a celebratory cruise. The employee suffered a sudden illness and was treated immediately by the medical team present, but unfortunately did not survive. Our commitment to people and respect for life are intrinsic to the values of this company, and for this reason the planned festivities have been canceled. We deeply regret what happened, and we will continue to show our solidarity and offer full support to the family, friends, partners and other employees of our group."
