Hours after Carnival Horizon departed Grand Turk a Man Overboard was sounded onboard, and the ship’s crew started a search operation launching two lifeboats to find the missing person.
Carnival Cruise Line has confirmed the incident saying that Carnival Horizon is conducting a search for a passenger who reportedly jumped overboard from Deck 11, on Wednesday evening. The captain returned the ship to the area where the guest went overboard and the crew started a search and rescue operation. Immediately after the announcement team members threw life preservers with attached lights off the stern and port side of the ship.
Hours after the search there was an announcement onboard that the body of the guest was found, and overwhelming sadness was palpable aboard the ship.

In a statement, Carnival confirmed that the body of the guest was recovered.
"Together with the U.S. Coast Guard the ship's crew located and recovered the body of the guest. Carnival's Care team is providing assistance to his family," Carnival Cruise Line said.
Carnival Horizon was on a six-day cruise that departed Miami on Sunday and was scheduled to return on Saturday. The ship is cleared by the Coast Guard to resume its course.
