Miami Port officials revealed their plans for the new terminal building which will be finished by the year of 2035. The new terminal building will have a different concept than the current port infrastructure. The plans reveal a new terminal complex unlike the one berth model that is currently used. This terminal will be constructed in the East part from the current major terminal and will combine, as well as link, different terminals with common screening system and luggage-handling.
The new approach will save a lot of real estate on Dodge Island. The main goal of the terminal complex would be to offer two or three additional 1,200 ft cruise ship berths, Mr. Lynskey said. Port officials would finance at least some of the improvements through public-private partnerships; these improvements could potentially cost hundreds of millions of dollars.

Port Miami has been one of the top cruise ports in the last 45 years and has drawn more passengers than any other port world wide. Miami - Dade and Port Miami management plan to keep it that way with the ongoing investments.

Terminal D has been reserved for Carnival Cruise Lines, but had its operations moved temporarily to Terminal G due to reconstruction. The new Carnival Breeze is the main reason for the reconstructions of this terminal, Ms. Webb said.

Additional Investment of $3 million in renovations has been made for Terminal J. The so-called "boutique" terminal designed for smaller cruise ships at the southwest end of the port will accommodate Oceania and Regent Seven Seas ships.
