RCCL Started Construction of two new ships: Quantum of the Seas and Anthem of the Seas

The cutting of the first steel plate marked the launch of the Royal Caribbean Project Sunshine, which involves the construction of two new ships that will make up the fleet of new generation ships. The cutting operation was carried out in the Meyer Werft shipyard in, Germany, where both ships will be built.

Royal Caribbean International decided to celebrate this important moment in announcing the names of the two ships: Quantum of the Seas, whose debut is expected for autumn 2014, and Anthem of the Seas, which will leave the yard in the spring of 2015. Both ships will be part of the Class Quantum and maintain the tradition of Royal Caribbean in terms of revolutionary design and strong innovation.

"We celebrate this important milestone with great excitement: this is the first ship of Project Sunshine. After three years of study design and advanced planning, this is the first real step forward in the construction of the ship and I personally look forward to see it take shape in the coming months, "said Adam Goldstein, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean International "The new ship will be a real innovation in terms of design and hospitality and is why we thought the name was appropriate Quantum of the Seas."

Royal Caribbean International was the first cruise line to introduce on board climbing walls, ski-skating rink, the surf simulators, the Zip Lines and a tropical park with more than 12,000 botanical specimens. The Quantum Class will remain faithful to the tradition of the Company and will not fail to add attractions and experiences unprecedented: the unique and unrepeatable will give, once again, to all a real "WOW experience".

"There are many advances in terms of design and innovation made by our Company in the course of history and Quantum Class is no exception," said Richard D. Fain, chairman and CEO, Royal Caribbean Cruises, Ltd. "We look forward to introducing our guests a new way to experience the cruise ships of Class Quantum."
