Two patrol boats, from Ancona and Civitanova Marche, were sent to the area and two cargo ships sailing nearby Ever Useful and Ulusoy 10 were diverted, to help the search.

Royal Caribbean crew member fell overboard on Serenade of the Seas, 40 miles off the Italian coast. The crew member fell overboard around 4:30 a.m. on Thursday while the ship was in Croatian territorial waters. Serenade of the Seas captain launched search and rescue operation and call coast guard authorities for help.

Croatian Coast Guard began the search operation with aircraft and called  the Italian coast guard for assistance through the Operations Center of the Port of Rome.

Two patrol boats, from Ancona and Civitanova Marche, were sent to the area and two cargo ships sailing nearby Ever Useful and Ulusoy 10 were diverted, to help the search.

Unfortunately, the crew member has not been found and the cause of his fall in to the sea remains unknown. The water temperature is about 20 degrees Celsius, but the sea is rough, and the waves are high (about 3 meters). There are also a strong  wind gusts of 25/30 knots from the northeast, giving less chances for the crew member survival

Search continued throughout the morning by Italian patrol boats of the Coast Guard Ancona and Croatian Coast Guard aircraft. These operations are also assisted with the aid of Nucleus airplane of Pescara.
