Royal Caribbean Freedom of the Seas prevented from docking by protesters in Labadee

Eight small boats with protesters were trying to prevent Freedom of the Seas to dock in Royal Caribbean private resort Labadee in Haiti. The protesters carried signs and shouted "we need jobs, we want jobs."

After one hour Freedom of the Seas managed to dock in Labadee, however passengers were not allowed to go outside due to political situation and unrests in the country. Haiti Prime Minister classified this incident as serious, and fears that it will have negative impact on the resort which receives more than half a million cruise passengers annually.

The political situation in Haiti is unstable as protesters took to the streets of Port-Au-Prince on Monday for suspension of presidential election scheduled for January 24, over alleged irregularities. In the provincial areas unknown attackers burned several state offices.
