Royal Caribbean Plans New Miami Cruise Terminal

Royal Caribbean is negotiating an agreement with Miami-Dade County, Florida (USA), for the construction of a new terminal at the Port of Miami. A hearing for preliminary vote is scheduled for next Wednesday, the 16th. The berth will be 400 meters long which could fit an Oasis class ships which are the largest cruise vessels in the world according to a statement from the director of the port, Kevin Lynskey. The agreement would last 20-60 years and both sides reveal that "there is a significant interest in having one of the company's largest vessels based in Miami. "The new space will be called Terminal A and is set for 2018. 

The present value of the agreement was estimated at $250 million for the port after taking its up-front costs and annual rent into consideration if used for cargo purposes. The estimated revenues from this acreage was estimated at $1.2 million annually from cargo activity
