Russian Ship Disappears With 700 Tons of Gold Ore

Russian cargo ship with 700 tons of gold ore went missing in Pacific together with nine crew members in Pacific Coast. Yesterday the captain sent distress call while the ship was sailing in the Sea of Okhotsk and since then the vessel is missing. The cargo belongs to Polymetal, one of the biggest Russian gold and silver producers.

According to the mining company, estimated worth of the gold ore is $800,000. Russian authorities started search and rescue mission deploying vessels and aircraft in the area where ship send the distress signal but still without any success of finding the vessel.

Reports that the ship's crew divided the precious cargo and disappeared after they sold it for cash are not confirmed.
