Two Crew Members Injured On Boat-Drill Accident Onboard NCL Pride of America

Two crewmembers of Norwegian Cruise Line's Pride of America were seriously injured while working aboard the cruise ship when it was docked in the port of Hilo, Hawaii.

The accident occurred when the crew members were performing routine lifeboat drills when one of the lifeboats fell into water after lines gave in. The men were on the life boat when the boat fell into the water from several meters high. The injured crew members were hospitalized and local authorities are investigating the causes for the accident and will make a full inspection and survey of the cruise liner Pride of America, before being allowed to resume the voyage.

A statement from the cruise line says the crewmembers were performing a routine check of the ship's rescue boat. Spokeswoman Monica Soriano wouldn't explain how they were injured.

Norwegian Cruise Lines says it is also investigating while cooperating with Coast Guard authorities.
