A German passenger aboard Cunard’s Queen Mary 2 give birth of a baby boy on the night of, January 17, 2016. The cruise ship was on its way from Southampton crossing the Atlantic shortly before arriving at the New York Cruise Terminal.
The boy came three weeks before the expected date of delivery. His mother gave the newborn name "Benjamin Brooklyn" with respect to the cruise terminal in Brooklyn, where Queen Mary 2 docked soon after the birth.
Mother and her child were taken directly to hospital. Both are doing well, and according to New York Post the Benjamin Brooklyn is her third child, and her first boy.
The boy was born in American territorial waters and is therefore automatically an American citizen. The woman had originally planned to travel with her brother and her husband to Canada, will now probably stay in New York.
