Woman Hit by Stray Bullet on a Cruise Ship

“Everybody was having a good time,” Gibson said. “It was very unfortunate. This is the first time I’ve had that happen.”

During 4th of July celebration on board Majestic Princess passenger Ulrike “Ulla” White was shot by a stray bullet, according to Palm Beach and ships officials.
Allan Ortman, spokesman for West Palm Beach Police stated that a 64-year-old Palm Beach Gardens resident was transferred to St. Mary’s Medical Center.

This was fifth incident of stray bullet in the area. One more woman was also reported suffering by bullet wound and three teenagers also were shot.
After incident occurred on board Majestic Princess, ship authorities alarmed dispatchers that around 9:30p.m. a passenger was hurt by a bullet or by firework.

Today, West Palm Beach Police confirmed that at the time of the incident Majestic Princess was in Palm Beach’s jurisdiction and the case will be run by Palm Beach Police.
Fred Hess, Palm Beach Police spokesman said detectives will determine if the stray bullet was intentional, accidental or if the bullet was “shot by some stupid person shooting bullets into the sky.”
Captain of the Majestic Princess, Ken Gibson stated that incident happened just after the fireworks celebration ended. While he was steering the ship, crew members reported to him that woman on Deck 3 fallen on the deck hurt. He informed the medical teams to go to the designated area and called the U.S. Coast Guard and local authorities.

 “We looked at her immediately,” he said. “She had a rather small wound above her chest.”
After assessing the situation Captain Gibson rushed the ship north to the Riviera Beach Marina, where Riviera Beach Fire Rescue was waiting to take the woman to St. Mary’s Medical Center.
