Woman medically evacuated from Carnival Pride

CHARLESTON, S.C. — A U.S. Coast Guard helicopter crew medically evacuated a cruise ship passenger from the Carnival Pride about 110 miles east of Georgetown, S.C., Saturday.
Staff aboard the Pride contacted watchstanders at the Coast Guard Sector Charleston command center to request a medevac for Margarie Robertson, 65, reporting she was experiencing severe symptoms related to a previous medical condition.

After consulting with a Coast Guard flight surgeon, a medical evacuation was determined necessary. A helicopter crew from Air Station Savannah, operating out of Charleston, S.C., launched aboard an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter and met the Pride at sea at 10 a.m.
Coast Guardsmen safely airlifted Robertson, her husband, and a nurse from the Pride aboard the helicopter then took them to Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.

The woman’s current condition is unknown.
