Woman Sentenced to Year in Prison for Bomb Hoax on Carnival Fascination

Linda Gayle Wilson from Florida was sentenced today by the U.S. Court to 12 months in federal prison for providing false claim of  bomb on Carnival Fascination. The incident happen on May 9, 2010 when Mrs. Wilson made series of phone calls to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office from her home in Baldwin. According to the phone conversation with Jacksonville Police she reported that: “a female terrorist, carrying a bomb, was on board a cruise ship that was scheduled to arrive at the port in Jacksonville and that the terrorist intended to explode the bomb prior to the cruise ship reaching the port.”
Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office based on this information identified the cruise ship as Carnival Fascination and alerted FBI, US Coast Guard, JAXPORT Security, U.S. Customs and Border Protection and onboard Carnival Fascination security. Ship was widely searched by the crew and upon arrival in JAXPORT federal and local law enforcement officers conducted search but no bomb was found.
Investigation concluded that information given by Wilson about the terrorist attack was false.
Linda Gayle Wilson was arrested on December 27, 2011, by a local law enforcement officers and  pleaded guilty on July 3, 2012 on the charges for providing false information/hoaxes involving a bomb report to law enforcement.
