The length would surpass by 10 meters the world’s current largest yacht, the 170 meters Eclipse, owned by Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich.

Abramovich Eclipse yacht is no longer biggest in the world, this title belongs to 180 meters yacht named Azzam. The length would surpass  by 10 meters the world’s current largest yacht, the 170 meters Eclipse, owned by Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich.

Azzam is still under construction and delivery is not expected until late 2013, but after completing the welding last part of the hull, the Project Azzam is the rightful winner.

This project is surrounded by plenty of rumors mainly because the German shipping company responsible for its construction Lürsen Yachts signed strict confidentiality agreements.

There are speculations in the media that Al-Waleed bin Talal member of the Saudi royal family, is the owner of Azzam. Al-Waleed bin Talal personal fortune is estimated at 10 billion euros.

Azzam estimated coasts are $627.4 million compared to Abramovich's $485 million Eclipse. This yacht will require 50 crew members and reports say the fuel tanks will hold an astounding 264,172 gallons of fuel. Only two locations reportedly could accommodate a yacht so big are Monaco and Antibes.
