50 000 people on the waiting list for Titanic II maiden voyage in 2018

The cruise liner Titanic will again cross the seas in 2018. With a capacity of 2400 passengers, Titanic II will make the route linking Southampton, England, to New York, in the United States, just like its predecessor. For the maiden voyage, the queue now exceeds 50,000 people.

The vessel is being built in China and is an investment of Australian billionaire Clive Palmer. He plans to make a documentary from the maiden voyage to show the history of the ship, from the yard until his arrival in New York. The investment, which came to be contemplated at more than US $ 500 million, was not disclosed.

The ship will make its maiden voyage 104 years after the fateful trip, which culminated in the sinking on 15 April 1912. After hitting iceberg, the Titanic sank in the North Atlantic. More than 1,500 people, including passengers and crew were killed because there were not enough lifeboats.

The new Titanic could usher in a new era for cruises. However, there are those who say that the project should not leave the paper. Until April this year, the Blue Line site had been giving updates on the construction of the vessel. Currently, the site is out of date. Experts lament, but the economic situation in China may be contributing to the Titanic project be delayed - or worse, to stay only on paper. According to the BBC, the construction has not started. A company spokesman was limited to say the project was relocated to 2018. (*)

The Titanic II ship was designed to be an almost exact replica of the original. With 269 meters long and 45 meters wide, the new vessel will be slightly wider to give more stability to the ship. Also receive changes due to changes in the nautical legislation in the last 100 years.

Among the changes are the lifeboats, capable of meeting the total number of passengers and crew, unlike the old boats. With capacity for 3300 people, the original vessel owned boats only 36% of those on board the ship. The new Titanic load 18 modern boats to serve 2,435 passengers and 900 crew members.

Like its predecessor, the vessel will feature luxurious service on board. Passengers can enjoy a Turkish bath, swimming pool and is in the Parisian Café, the first ship highlights, and that will be replicated to the accuracy. Already the room that contained Telegraph - dubbed Marconi Room, named after the inventor of the machine - will be just to visit, because the command will have GPS and the most modern navigation systems available to the team.
